Can a child learn Spanish even if no one speaks it at home?

YES!🗣️

Children can begin learning a new language through consistent exposure outside of the home, especially when it is introduced in a way that feels natural, engaging, and age-appropriate. For toddlers, that often looks like songs, stories, repetition, movement, play, and familiar routines.

They do not need to speak it perfectly right away. Listening and understanding always come first. Over time, small moments of exposure build recognition, confidence, and connection.

You do not have to be fluent to support your child’s learning. A warm, encouraging environment and regular exposure can make a real difference. ❤️👏🏡

Who says having fun at the Playhouse is just for the little ones?🏡 Our Adult Conversation Hour participants have been exploring recipes from around the Spanish-speaking world and yesterday, they had the chance to assemble and decorate alfajores!👏🧑‍🍳

These sandwich cookies are popular in many Latin American countries. We tried out an Argentinian style recipe with soft shortbread cookies and homemade dulce de leche.😍

If you have a toddler or young child and have been wondering whether it’s “too late” to begin introducing more language at home, it’s not.

Toddlers are still learning incredibly fast, especially through repetition, routine, play, music, and connection. You do not need a perfect plan or long lessons. You just need consistent exposure woven into everyday life.

Start with a few useful words or phrases. Repeat them during daily routines. Keep it simple, natural, and warm.

Language learning does not have to feel overwhelming. For children, it’s the small moments that count.❤️🏡
