OUR STORY
The Spanish Playhouse is a creative, arts-based Spanish immersion program where children learn through the beauty of everyday life. Founded in 2021 by Julissa and Jorge, we are a family-run program built on 20 years of teaching children and three generations of one family who love Spanish. Art, music, movement, and connection guide each child's development, in a joyful, nurturing home for bilingual learning.
Meet The Team
Program Director
Ms. Julissa
Julissa is the Program Director and founder of The Spanish Playhouse. With 20 years of experience teaching Spanish to children, including three years as a Spanish and Music teacher at a Montessori school, she founded the program in 2021. Her approach is shaped by a rich musical background and a deep passion for child development. She believes children grow best through the beauty of everyday life, within spaces filled with natural materials, meaningful routines, and opportunities to explore, play, and create freely.

Her leadership honors each child's individuality and fosters a calm, connected community where creativity and curiosity flourish. Outside the Playhouse, Julissa enjoys writing music and documentary photography, passions that reflect the same appreciation for beauty, expression, and authenticity she brings to her work each day.
Director of Operations
Mr. Jorge
Jorge is the Director of Operations and co-founder of The Spanish Playhouse. A multi-instrumentalist with a love for flamenco, he teaches group music classes, private piano lessons, and works closely with our homeschoolers, leading engaging program sessions with his signature blend of structure, creativity, and excitement.

With deep knowledge of both music and Spanish, Jorge makes advanced concepts feel simple, fun, and accessible for young learners. Beyond teaching, he enjoys playing jazz and exploring new musical methods, always seeking fresh ways to enrich the experiences he brings to children. His artistry and enthusiasm make music and learning an unforgettable part of The Spanish Playhouse.

Program & Media Coordinator
Ms. Stephanie
Stephanie is the Program & Media Coordinator and the organizational backbone of The Spanish Playhouse, ensuring every family feels supported from the very first interaction. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and brings both academic expertise and classroom experience to her role. As the leader of our Adult Spanish Program, she teaches with clarity, patience, and genuine encouragement, helping learners build confidence and connection through language.

Stephanie is known for her professionalism, warmth, and the thoughtful attention she brings to every detail. Outside the Playhouse, she enjoys horseback riding and runs her own crochet business, creating beautiful handmade animal friends that our children adore at the Playhouse. Those creative passions show up in how she approaches her work too: patient, precise, and full of heart. Her creativity and dedication strengthen the welcoming spirit of our entire community.
Lead Teacher
Ms. Emely
Emely is a Lead Teacher at The Spanish Playhouse. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communicative Disorders and brings years of experience supporting children's language and developmental growth. Her training gives her a unique understanding of how young children acquire language, which she puts to work every day at the Playhouse. With sharp observation skills and a natural ability to connect with young learners, Emely creates a learning environment where curiosity, creativity, and bilingual learning flourish side by side. Her nurturing style helps children feel safe, confident, and excited to learn.

Known for her patience, creativity, and deep dedication to young children, Emely brings fun and personality to our community. She is even known for making the best flans, a favorite among our team and families. Her warmth, talent, and genuine love for teaching make her an invaluable part of The Spanish Playhouse.
Instructional Guide
Ms. Miledy
Miledy is an Instructional Guide at The Spanish Playhouse and Julissa's mother. With nearly 20 years of experience running her own Spanish-immersion daycare, she brings the heart, warmth, and comfort of a true Latin American abuela to the program. As Amelia's grandmother, her presence connects three generations of our family in the work we do every day. Children instantly feel at ease with her. She has that rare, classic, nurturing touch that makes every child feel loved, safe, and at home, and she fills the Playhouse with music, laughter, dancing, and simple joys that celebrate the beauty of childhood.

Outside the Playhouse, Miledy is a talented seamstress, creating everything from curtains to children's clothing. Her creativity shows up in every part of the environment she helps shape. Her presence adds a sense of family, tradition, and warmth that makes our community feel deeply supported.
Meet Amelia
Amelia represents the third generation of our family at The Spanish Playhouse. The daughter of Julissa and Jorge and the granddaughter of Miledy, she has grown up here, bilingual since birth, alongside the children we teach. She is bright, funny, kind, and loving, the kind of older child who makes the younger ones light up when she walks into a room.

Amelia has been writing and illustrating her own books since she was five years old. Her personal collection now includes more than seventy stories she has imagined, drawn, and brought to life with her own hands. She loves to paint, to perform, and to learn new languages beyond Spanish. She dreams of being a singer and an actress one day. In our online courses, she teaches children the same way she has always learned, through stories, art, music, and play. When kids watch her, they don't just learn Spanish. They see a child like themselves doing something extraordinary, which makes them believe they can too.
